The Clerk’s office performs all duties mandated by state and local law, serving the Council and the general public.  The office hours are Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Closed on New Year’s Day, President’s Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving and Friday after, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve.  Also closed on weekends.

City Clerk Shelly Huggins and Deputy Clerk Patty Deaton strive to provide excellent customer service.  The Herrin City Clerk’s office provides the residents of Herrin with a multitude of services.  Such duties and services include:

  • Ordinances and Resolutions

  • Records Management

  • Contracts and Agreements

  • Attest and Seal Municipal Documents

  • Maintain Codification Updates

  • Index and File all Official Documents for the City

  • File Levies, Annexations and Plats with the County

  • File Annual Reports with State and County Officials

  • City Council and meetings agendas

  • Publish legal notices

  • FOIA/OMA requests may be sent to shuggins@cityofherrin.com

  • Herrin City Cemetery deeds and records

  • Voter registration

  • Notary Service $5.00 fee

  • Issues solicitor and vendor permits

  • Issues Liquor Licenses

  • Issues gaming & amusement licenses

  • Appointments for certificates of occupancy

  • Issues property owner’s permits for codes department
